Roma Jam Session art Kollektiv performed and manifested the CHROMA sudden presence in the total of five times during the visit to Berlin. These interventions happened in front on top the Kai Dikhas gallery, in front of the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, twice in front of The Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of the Cultures of the World), and at the end of the RomaDay parade in front of Gorki theatre.
The locations were selected due to their socio/political relevance in the discourse of presence of marginalized peoples in the arts.
I found these performances to be meaningful, aesthetically interesting, and full of offerings that are yet to be discussed.
Questions coming to be after seeing all of their performances and recording them on film:
1. What does a Roma body performing physical exercises of balance in front of the institutions of power say?
2. What emotions does a group of three Roma/Sinti humans with such a simple idea provoke in the audience?
3. Why is it so provoking to claim the space?
4. Why is it always so captivating to see peacefulness in the environment hyper-saturated with sounds, colors, smells?
5. Where is the point where body can help the symbolism fluidly melt into clarity? Is it there?
