With the swing of the spring it feels easier to get up and do work...And so we do it! Mo and I spend hours in the studio discussing the possible publication of the book (also before and after entering that space, as we hike or prepare soup).
The book is planned in the form of a graphic novel that will tell the story about Roma Jam Session art Kollektiv. It will cover the years of collective's work since 2013 until today, present on their aspirations and funding philosophies, and it will hold a retrospective of their artistic creations.
Yesterday we spent some hours reading Walter Benjamin and Susan Sontag, for the sake of getting more brain food in this process. The whole experience is wrapping up our entire days, since Mo and I live together. Yesterday we also went to Tai Chi lesson together that Mo often attends, and finds they are really important for her artistic practices. That is why she wanted to introduce me to it, so some puzzle pieces could come together in my mind. What do they want to say is still very up in the air, but with every day and meeting expressions are getting more tangible and clear.
I find Sontag's essay ''Against Interpretation" to be very important in discussion of their work ~
"Our task is not to find the maximum amount of content in a work of art, much less to squeeze more content out of the work than is already there. Our task is to cut back content so that we can see the thing at all."
